Meet the 2021 UDSS Team
President
Ethan Lloyd
As President of the 2021 UDSS committee, Ethan is tasked with managing and executing the direction of all UDSS operations in an efficient and effective manner. He also acts as the official spokesperson of the UDSS committee, and liaises between members of the public society, the School of Dentistry, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and the WA Australian Dental Association. He represents the interests of dental students via his communications with fellow dental students and the year representatives.
Vice President
Bede van Schaijik
As Vice-President of the 2021 committee, Bede is also tasked alongside the President with steering the direction of UDSS. This involves liaising between members of the society, School of Dentistry, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and the WA Australian Dental Association as required, to present the voice and opinions of the students. In addition, Bede will oversee any tasks or duties of the President, should he be unavailable or needing assistance.
Secretary
Pauline Wong
As Secretary of the 2021 UDSS committee, Pauline will manage all UDSS Committee meetings and be responsible for all important documentation in the UDSS Records. She will record, organise and categorise the minutes of each UDSS committee meetings from year specific meetings, DMD committee meetings, Guild education meetings, UDSS and UEC meetings as well as feedback forms. She will maintain and helm efficient communication between committee members.
Produce a UDSS committee contact list at the beginning of the year. Also as Secretary, Pauline will organise the elections and the comprehensive handover process for the following committee.
Treasurer
Edmund Wong
As Treasurer of the 2021 UDSS committee, Edmund will authorise the cheques and balances of the committee’s accounts. He will handle essential transactions from sponsors and will dictate the funds budgeted for every event. Records of every event expenditure will be kept and will be included in the summary report at the end of the year. Edmund will also liaise with the Education Representatives for the Education Council grants that occur twice a year. He will also ensure the bank balance is sufficient for the needs and aims of the UDSS committee whilst also advising the board of any potential problems.
